Open-source databases-on-Linux courses

Open-source relational database programs are undergoing rapid development. And a Linux machine is an excellent platform to deploy them on. In the age of the Internet, databases are indispensable in the numerous areas of dynamic-content-service. The latter includes electronic-commerce applications, web-email applications etc. Database programs also have their traditional applications as ' multiuser electronic filing cabinets' and as such are indispensable in banking and increasingly in web-based serving of encrypted data though encrypted tunnels etc.

The three most well-know open-source databases are PostgreSQL, MySQL and FirebirdSQL. All are SQL (sequel-query-language)-based programs. All are excellent client-server (i.e.network-based ) programs. But of the three PostgreSQL is reputed to contain the most robust and sophisticated features. Our main offerings are courses/consultancy with PostgreSQL. We offer:

Type1-PostgreSQL course

We offer PostgreSQL course for traditional PC-machines. An example of these is described in figure postgresql-course1 below:

Figure postgresql-course1: b-lux PostgreSQL course for traditional 'PC-machines'.

We extend this type of course to include connection to various types of network clients including OpenOffice, Rekall (from TheKompany.com) as well as the traditional PostgreSQL clients psql and the gui-based ones such as pgAccess and pgAdmin. We further extend the course to include web-applications with the Apache-Tomcat JAVA-based application server. The course content can be downloaded. Please use the navigation system above to fetch it.

The course is gradually being upgraded to the 8.x series of PostgreSQL, so often newer course-notes and lab/practicals are available than in the downloaded course contents. If you are interested in a PostgreSQL course by us (for information on contents, fees, dates etc,), please use the. contact us link. If you are based in Britain, and you are obliged fund the course your-self, we are an approved learning-provider in the government-sponsored career development loans (CDL) system

Course duration and certification:

The 'minimum-version' of the course covers 5 seminars. For those interested in certification, we collaborate with the major PostgreSQL certification group and certification can (when needed ) be arranged. Full details of their postgresql certification programs are available from the postgresql-certification website
Bundled with our PostgreSQL course:
We offer:
  1. a modern text-book on PostgreSQL from Pearson publishers (the largest of the computer-bookpublishers and with whom we collaborate with),
  2. modern releases of Fedora Linux and SuSE Linux/professional edition or Mandrake Linux/powerpack edition.

Type 2: Flexible -PostgreSQL courses/consultancy:

We are flexible and can tailor a course to suite your needs. So if you have an application where a database server and clients (setting-up and training etc.) is needed please contact us stating the applications you have in mind. You can contact us using the contact-us link or communicate your needs by filling out a form. If we can, we will tailor the appropriate training and post-training regimes. We have excellent links with groups and companies active with PostgreSQL.
